City of Lubbock moving employees into Citizens Tower
The City of Lubbock will soon be moving into Citizens Tower near 14th Street and Avenue K.
The building is still under construction. Final elevator and life-safety system checks will be ready near mid-November.
The City of Lubbock will begin moving in Information Technology equipment in late November, following installation furnishing in December and finally the official employee move-in.
Once everything is done, Citizens Tower will hold more than 450 employees across 11 floors, a large basement complex and the city's new Utility Customer Services Center. The tower also serves as a plaza, municipal court and police headquarters.
For customers, they will be able to easily access common services under one building.
The parking spots are said to begin early 2020, following the municipal court and police headquarter constructions.
In addition, the Tower will be equipped with state-of-the-art broadcasting equipment to support new services for the city's communications and marketing efforts, including channel 2.
City of Lubbock has not issued an opening date but says the city looks forward to welcoming people to the new building.
