"Smiles for Soldiers" offers free dental care for veterans
Service members can apply to win a 50 thousand dollar makeover for their teeth.
This is the third year doctor Robert Ioppolo, a veteran and oral surgeon, has given "Smiles for Soldiers."
He served nine years of active duty, four years in the reserves and wants to help serve service members in Lubbock.
Although the V.A. helps veterans with their health care, they only qualify for full dental benefits under certain conditions.
"To actually watch that person when they smile for the first time, especially after they've been ashamed to smile for so long, its really a very emotional thing," Ioppolo said. "For myself and my staff, the patients and their families."
The winner of "Smile for Soldiers" will get a full-arch restoration.
Applications close on the 15th.
