The 44th Annual Texas Boys Ranch Telethon exceeded in meetings its goal of $275,000.

More than meeting its goal, the organization's Community Relations Coordinator Ange Scott said the telethon is an opportunity for the Boys Ranch to share its mission.

"We have a blast. I mean it's a lot of hard work," she said. "Our staff put in so many hours to help us get ready, but then the night of we just have so much fun listening to the music getting to know the people who come out and support us. And it's just a great opportunity for us to get our name and awareness out there."

While these funds provide food, clothes and school supplies for the kids it serves, Scott said its much more than physical necessities.

"It helps make sure that we help provide the best staff to make sure that they're needs are being met and just overall giving them a good quality of life for the circumstances that they're dealing with," she said.

The telethons impact may be measured in dollars, but there are many ways to support the ranch.

"We love having groups come out, and feed the kids or provide an activity for them. Sometimes we need help with like basic maintenance things, like cleaning out gutters or helping redo some landscaping," Scott said.

She said donations can come in many forms.

"Another way people can donate, because they may not have you know money or something, they can always come donate their time."
