South Plains Food Bank receives 40,000 pound potato donation
An anonymous donor supported the fight against food insecurity across West Texas.
The South Plains Food Bank received 40,000 pounds of potatoes for the "Summer of Sharing" Food Drive. Members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints helped pack it all up.
"It's a great fun event that we do here. Not only are they able to come out and help package these thousand pounds of potatoes, but it also teaches the kids to come out and serve, to get outside of themselves and do something for the community," Brandon Baker, with the Church of Latter-Day Saints, said.
This is the 10th anniversary of the "Summer of Sharing" Food Drive.
