West Texas Chevy Dealers aid South Plains Food Bank in fight against hunger
West Texas Chevy Dealers are aiding in the fight against hunger. The group pledged $10,000 a year for the next five years to the South Plains Food Bank, totaling $50,000.
The West Texas Chevy Dealers are dedicated to giving back to the West Texas community. They have previously been a part of the SPFB Summer of Sharing as a core sponsor in addition to being the match sponsors for Match Month in September.
"Dealers in the West Texas Chevy Dealers group can all participate in this since it affects all the people in West Texas, not just Lubbock, the surrounding communities. So David and his crew had asked us to see if we could make a little bit more of a commitment, so we decided to do that, excited to do it," John Zwiacher, President of the West Texas Chevy Dealers, said.
Summers are tough on the food bank because kids are out of school and don't get free or reduced price meals. Demand rises while contributions generally drop off.
"We are extremely proud to have the West Texas Chevy Dealers be a part of our Cornerstone Partners family," Vanessa Morelion, Communications Manager at the SPFB, said. "Not only have they pledged to support our mission of ending hunger, but they have also not stopped there and continue to be involved in various aspects."
