LUBBOCK, Texas – The Texas Tech soccer team closed out non-conference play shutting out Eastern Washington, 3-0, behind three goals from freshman Ashleigh Williams Sunday afternoon at the John Walker Soccer Complex.

Both teams headed into locker at the half tied 0-0 despite TTU (7-1-1) holding a 14-0 shot advantage with six of those coming on goal, while the defense didn't concede one from the EWU (2-6-0) side. One minute into the second half, Williams tallied her fourth goal of the season to give TTU a 1-0 lead. Williams slotted home a pass from the right-side by Macy Blackburn into the top of the net.

In the 53rd minute, the freshman collected her brace. This time, she one-timed a pass from the left provided by Jordie Harr.

The hat trick was complete in the 70th minute off a shot from the post that was hit by Macy Schultz, with Williams tucking away the rebound with her left foot into the far-right side of the net. It's the first hat trick by a Red Raider since former TTU standout and Olympic gold medalist Janine Beckie scored three against Prairie View A&M in 2014. Williams also becomes the third freshman all-time to net a hat trick (Amy Ruthstein, 1995 and Jessica Fuston, 2010).

TTU outshot EWU, 24-1, recording 12 on goal. Schultz registered a game-high seven shots (four on goal). Madison White played the entire match in goal, collecting one save moving her record to 7-1-1 this season. She now has five clean sheets this season.
