LUBBOCK, Texas (KJTV) - A 20-year-old Lubbock man has died after a crash near 4th Street and Toledo Ave., according to police.

The Texas Tech Police Department was involved in a chase with a vehicle driven by Isaiah Green. The chase started before 2 a.m. in the westbound lanes of 4th Street. TTUPD stopped the chase based on unsafe speeds.

A short time later, Green’s vehicle sped past a Lubbock Police Department officer who had just finished an unrelated traffic stop. The LPD officer tried to catch the vehicle. The officer found the vehicle crashed in the 4800 block of 4th Street.

The officer found Green and he was taken to University Medical Center by ambulance with critical injuries. He was later pronounced deceased.

Through the initial course of the investigation, it appears Green lost control near the intersection of 4th Street and Toledo Avenue, crashing into multiple trees and a brick wall.

The investigation is on-going.
