This week the Double T 97-3 Staff answer "Where do you think the Red Raider will finish in the Big 12 basketball standings?"
Jamie Lent - The Morning Drive and Press Box
After just two games it is a little harder to be completely certain on this one. I think heading into Big 12 play I felt like the Red Raiders had a great chance to finish in the top two or three in the conference. I still feel like there is a chance of that but honestly I wouldn't be surprised with them finishing anywhere between one through five. The defense looks like it will give them a chance to win every game but the offensive inconsistency looks like it will keep you from getting too comfortable in any game as well. So, I still feel good about Tech's chances to finish in the top three but finding consistent scoring will ultimately determine whether or not they can do that.
Zach Logsdon - The Morning Drive
In the top 3. I just can't pick anyone to beat Kansas at this point, even though they look like garbage at times and Udoka Azubuike is out for the rest of the year. Iowa State looks incredible, but they'll lose a game or two when they miss literally every three. Tech is going to drop a game or two where the other team just gets to 70 points. I initially thought Kansas was going to run away with it with the two big guys (Lawson is a freak) but now I'm just resigned to them winning by two games despite going 1-3 against Tech and ISU. At gunpoint, I say KU goes 13-5 and Tech and ISU finish at 11-7. Blegh.
Chois Woodman - The Bottom Line
I believe Texas Tech will finish in 2nd place in the Big 12 again this season. The Red Raiders still have some deficiencies on offense that need to get figured out, but the rest of the league is not that great this season. And I won't put Tech in the top spot yet. Even though Kansas has some warts and has lost a key piece - it has still won 14 straight titles. So I'm not picking against them yet.
Jeff McGuire - The Bottom Line and Sunday Sports Blitz
Until Kansas loses the Big 12 they are still the favorite. That being said, Tech and Iowa State are clearly the top three in the conference. Oklahoma sitting at #23 at the moment looks much like a much better team than last year. That is your top four. Texas and Baylor will make some waves in the Big 12. TCU is an enigma to me. I don't know what they are yet. Back on task, Tech is the 2 seed in the Big 12 Tournament.
Zach Sparkman - The Press Box and Tech Talk
I’ll say 3rd, I could very easily say 2nd and 1st is more than attainable with Kansas losing Azubuike. I say 3rd as somewhat of a cautious outlook after close wins over two teams in WVU and Kstate (without Dean Wade) who don’t figure to finish in the top part of the conference, after this OU game I’ll have a better feel but Kansas still scares me and Iowa State with how they’ve played tech these last two years worried me before knocking off Kansas. So I’ll say third while expecting them to exceed those expectations
Garrett Luft - Coors Light Post Game Show and Saturday Morning Quarterback
I wish I could say win the whole thing, but I think 3rd is most likely. Unless an offensive eruption happens, I am not sure this offense in most road environments can play well enough to win a title.
KU and Iowa State likely ahead of Tech.
Gary Ashby - Sports Talk w/ Thetford and Ashby
It is hard to say at this time where Tech will finish, but I do know that we have a fun to watch team!!! If they keeps improving I would not be at all surprised with a Conference Championship. If we are as good right now as were are going to be I can see anywhere from 1st to 4th.
