LUBBOCK, Texas -

Lubbock County commissioners approved installing Dr. Sam Andrews as the medical examiner long-term.

He works for the outside forensic pathology firm NAAG Pathology Labs, based out of San Diego.

All the work and services are provided in-house in Lubbock. Commissioner Bill McCay says Andrews is deserving of the job.

"Dr. Andrews has worked hard in utilizing all the resources of NAAG and the Lubbock County ME's Office has a great reputation and has done outstanding work over the years and he continues to reflect that," McCay said.

Commissioners approved the contract with NAAG and Dr. Andrews starting Oct.1.
