UPDATE: One dead from a two vehicle crash in Lubbock County

LUBBOCK COUNTY, Texas -

The Department of Public Safety says one person is dead after a two vehicle crash near FM 40 and FM 400 Sunday evening.

Cary Lynn Stennett, 59, of Lorenzo, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Troopers say Magalhaes Victor Costa, 25, of Amarillo, was driving a Kia Optima traveling northbound on FM 400 and failed to stop at the intersection of FM 400 and FM 40.

Stennett was driving a 2001 Peterbilt truck tractor was hauling a 1968 Hobbs semi-trailer west on FM 40, and stuck the Kia, causing the truck to roll over an catch fire.

Costa and a passenger, Aaron Rodney Robinson, 28 of Amarillo, both had moderate injuries.

A witness was able to pull Costa and Robinson out of the Kia, but was unable to rescue Stennett from the truck.

DPS, Lubbock Sheriff's Office and the Roosevelt Volunteer Fire Department responded to the fire.

The crash is still under investigation.
