Winter Weather Safety Campaign set to kick off in Lubbock

Posted: Updated:
LUBBOCK, Texas -

The first day of December is the start of meteorological winter.

December also marks the beginning of the National Weather Service's Seasonal Winter Weather Campaign.

As part of this campaign, the NWS office in Lubbock will be communicating winter weather safety and preparedness information during the month.

The NWS reported this winter may see more rain, snow and ice than average as El Nino conditions are developing and are likely to persist into the spring months, which means odds are a little higher for more hazardous wintry weather this year, and a significant storm with severe impacts is more likely.
