Cannon Air Force Base Airman killed after IED hits vehicle in Afghanistan

According to ABC 7 News, A Cannon Air Force Base Airman was killed in action when his vehicle hit an improvised explosive device in Ghazni Province Afghanistan on Tuesday.

According to the 24th Special Operations Wing, U.S. Air Force Staff Sergeant Dylan Elchin, 25, a Special Tactics combat controller with the 26th Special Tactics Squadron, was deployed to Afghanistan in support of OPERATION Freedom's Sentinel.

As a Special Tactics Combat Controller, Elchin was specially trained and equipped for immediate deployment into combat operations to conduct global access, precision strike and personnel recovery operations. He was skilled in reconnaissance operations, air traffic control and terminal attack control operations.
