LUBBOCK, Texas -

Police arrest two suspects for murder in connection to a body found Friday, Nov. 28.

Kethan Anderson, 38, and Anna Smith, 31, are now in custody and charged with the murder of the unidentified deceased individual. Anderson was arrested this morning in Hereford, Texas, and Smith was arrested Friday night in Burleson, Texas.

Through the investigation it appears the individual is a victim of a homicide.

The skeletal remains of the unidentified victim were found in the backyard of an abandoned home at 2110 20th Street. According the arrest warrant, Smith, Anderson and the victim were all homeless. Smith and Anderson did not know the victim prior to the incident.

According to the warrant, Anderson had bragged to numerous people about choking a man and killing him in a backyard. Smith said in a statement that she had caught the victim exposing himself over her while she was sleeping. Smith stated her and Anderson returned to the residence about an hour and a half later where she confronted the victim.

Smith admitted to pulling a knife on the victim and Anderson tackled him to the ground. Smith also admitted Anderson strangled the victim until he was no longer moving. Smith and Anderson left the home and left the victim laying in the exact location the remains were located.

The Lubbock County Medical Examiner’s Office is still working to identify the victim believed to be a male.

Detectives quickly identified Anderson and Smith as suspects in the murder, and arrest warrants were issued the evening of November 30.

Both suspects will be transferred to the Lubbock County Detention Center at a later date and are both held on a $200,000 bond.

Lubbock Police Department detectives are now investigating Wednesday’s discovery of a deceased individual in the 2100 block of 20th Street as a homicide. The deceased individual has not been identified at this time.

On November 28, the Lubbock Police Department was notified of a deceased individual at an abandoned home.

Detectives with the Lubbock Police Department and Lubbock County Sheriff’s Office immediately began an investigation into the death.

Due to the condition of the backyard with tall weeds, trash and furniture, it took LPD crime scene investigators additional time to process the scene.

Police report it is unclear how long the individual has been deceased.

The Lubbock County Medical Examiner’s Office is working to identify the victim, and this case remains under investigation.
