Local shop 'thankful' for Small Business Saturday

LUBBOCK, Texas -

After Black Friday comes Small Business Saturday, a day to remember and support the small businesses in our community.

It was started in 2010 as a way to boost sales at local shops. The next year, the U.S. Senate unanimously passed a resolution supporting the idea, and officials participated in all 50 states.

Here in Lubbock, we have a variety of small businesses to support, including Tom's Tree Place.

"Small Business Saturday means a lot to us because it means the community will come out and support us," Manager Abbie Jones said. "They'll come and it's personal, and it's a personal touch to the holiday shopping."

Tom's Tree Place has been around since the 50's. For a guide to a variety of small businesses in Lubbock, click here.
