Zoe Campos was killed and buried in a south Lubbock backyard, Lubbock Police Chief Greg Stevens confirmed Wednesday afternoon.

Late Friday night Stevens announced human remains were found near 70th Street and Sherman Avenue. Investigators had been at the home for days. While all signs pointed to this being Campos, the positive identification took a few more days.

Carlos Rodriquez, 25, is charged with murder in this case.

Stevens explained the many steps the department had to take over the past few years, seeking justice while also not violating any constitutional rights.  "It's a process, it takes as long as it takes," Steven explained, noting this isn't a Law & Order episode.
