LUBBOCK, Texas -

Lubbock ISD's oldest campus reached a milestone as staff, students, and alumni at Dupre Elementary celebrated the school's 90th anniversary.

A bond issue was levied for the campus to open in 1927. It's named after the district's third superintendent, Marcy Mathias Dupre, Sr.

In a 1920's-themed party, artifacts from the school's 90-year history were on display in the library.

Staff members participated in a costume contest and classrooms were decorated with large, paper "90's" to compete for a Bahama Bucks Class Party.

Former Dupre student from the class of 1976, Toni Krebbs, said, "I think the thing that makes it so special is all the memories. Because in 90 years can you imagine how many students have been through here. I mean great great grandparents are coming back showing their great great grand kids this place. I think just the history of it, just all the wonderful people that have come through all the great teachers, I think it makes it special."

O.L. Slaton Middle School orchestra students performed and Dupre students sang 1920's songs.
